Dear readers
With the development around the world “THE INDIAN MEDIA” is also following the path of globalization leaving behind several areas of development. News is now created by the media in the name “That public wants that’s why we (media) give”. But the truth is media doesn’t portray the truth about our country completely. There is news which sometimes is not given much importance and some which is neglected completely.
One of them is the weaker section of our society the poor people, like farmers and laborers etc. each day for them has something new which I personally think is worth showing. But the fact is that the whole media is diverted towards what is called as “Lifestyle Reporting”. Not many people want to show or write news about the poor people.
But a man winner of Ramon Magsaysay award for journalism, literature and creative communications arts an award winning of Indian Development journalist PALAGUMMI. SAINATH rural affairs editor-The Hindu proudly calls himself as a ‘Rural Reporter’ or just a ‘Reporter’. In an interview on INDIAN MEDIA he focused our attention on how media is responsible for informing every citizen of the country. Media has a great responsibility of showcasing what is happening. He cleverly says that now media has started making profits. He warns that the ‘freedom of press’ should not become the ‘freedom of purse’.
P.Sainath is an active reporter focusing on the social problems o our country. He spends 270 to 300 days from the past 14 years in the rural India. The passion which he has towards rural development and upliftment of media in a fast growing economy like India is unbeatable.
I totally agree with all his thoughts and comments. It is very true that when on the one hand side thousands of farmers are committing suicide our media is engaged in covering fashion week where in a country like India only .2% of the whole population using designer clothes.
It is high time we realize our importance and individuality. It is our responsibility to stand unites and oppose to the evil side of the society.
