Lets Be Responsible Now

Though the government has taken steps in cleaning the beaches. The results are not that appreciating. Whenever I go to the beach I find it worst than before. I could see the garbage out of dustbins but not in its right place.
I question myself that why so? What are all the authorities doing? Why is everything in a mess? And the answer is that it’s not only the authority that is responsible but even we should try acting smart and save our beaches.
Chennai attractive spot are its beaches. Most of the visitors from other states and countries like to visit the beaches but after their visit the image carried by them of the beaches is not good. My friend came to Chennai before a month ago and I took her to the marina beach. I was not surprised actually because I was expecting that reaction from her. She liked the cool breeze touching her and she liked watching the waves but when she was looking around on the sand and near the water there were so many waste materials lying down.
There was no proper dustbin also for her to throw the waste and she asked me why the condition of beach is so sad? And I had no clue what to answer her. I went back and was reminded of my acts which have made the beach like this. Like you all even I don’t feel responsible for my acts. It was only when after this incident I went to the broken bridge with the ROB organization who are actively in charge of cleaning the beaches. We were all students some 15 people and we were asked to clean the waste which was lying down under the bridge. If it was some other day I wouldn’t have even imagined to get down and even look what is there.
I must say that it was a tough job. And while cleaning I was wondering from where all the waste came near the water. We had a discussion after the activity that what is the reason for this mess? And with many active listeners and talkers we came to know that it is because of us only. Sometimes when we walk on the road us through whatever we want thinking that it will be cleaned. But it is not so, it remains lying on the road. Then even if we put the waste in the dustbin all the materials are not taken some are dumped and some are thrown again. And when rain comes all these light weight materials like papers, thermo cols, plastic etc gets drenched and comes along with water.
Now I realize my mistakes and have started watching my acts. We are the problems of this and only we can be the solution. So let’s act smart and responsible and make Chennai a worth living place.
